Free Comic Book Day 2008

Free Comic Book Day: Saturday May 3, 2008

This Saturday May 3 marks the seventh annual Free Comic Book Day event. Comic book retailers from across the country will be participating in this yearly celebration of the comic book industry and the hobby as a whole.

Stores have different policies on how many free comics you can receive, but you will receive at least one free comic if you enter a participating store location. Most stores are pretty relaxed about how many comics you can take, but usually it's one of each title per customer. This year will include close to 40 different titles altogether, so that's not a bad haul!

Some of this years comic titles include:

ARCHIE'S PAL JUGHEAD

HELLBOY/BPRD

ALL STAR SUPERMAN #1

PROJECT SUPERPOWERS

TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED

BROKEN TRINITY PREVIEW

E.C. COMICS SAMPLER

X-MEN

THE STRANDED/DAN DARE FLIP-BOOK

SHONEN JUMP MAGAZINE SAMPLER

NEOTOPIA VOLUMES 1-3 COLOR POCKET MANGA

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG

DEL REY & DABEL BROTHERS PREVIEW

TINY TITANS #1

GRAPHIC CLASSICS

DISNEY'S GYRO GEARLOOSE

MARVEL ADVENTURES: IRON MAN

AMELIA RULES! COMICS AND STORIES

NASCAR HEROES: ALL-STARS SPECIAL

Supplies are limited and most of the good titles tend to go fast, so try and get there early in the day.

Both this year and in 2007, I really enjoyed having the chance for some free exposure to various comic titles th tI otherwise probably would not have given a chance to and then finding out that I actually enjoyed them enough to follow up the free issue.

I just wish that they'd put out some stronger titles. Secret Invasion had just started up, would've been cool if they had put out a Free Comic Book Day version of Secret Invasion #1 to increase the exposure to a story-line that was just beginning...
